Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and charismatic Escape Room Manager & Lead Game Master to oversee all operations at Blackbeard’s Escape in Nassau. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, who is comfortable managing a small team, handling business logistics, and, most importantly, providing an engaging, high-energy customer experience, sometimes in character as a pirate. This role requires strong autonomy and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with remote owners and operators.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations and Game Master Leadership

  • Lead Game Master: Serve as the primary, high-energy host and storyteller for all games, setting the performance standard for the entire team.
  • Run Daily Games: Expertly host and run all scheduled escape room games, ensuring timely starts, clear rule explanations, and engaging in-game hint delivery.
  • Theatrical Hosting: Embrace and maintain an authentic pirate persona when greeting and briefing guests to fully immerse them in the Blackbeard’s Escape theme.
  • Maintenance & Quality Control: Perform daily checks of all game components, props, and technology, ensuring everything is fully functional and ready for guests.
  • Staff Management: Manage scheduling, training, and supervision of one additional part-time or full-time employee to cover gaps, peak times, and days off, specifically focusing on Game Master performance coaching.

2. Communication and Remote Management

  • Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact for remote owners, providing clear, concise, and timely daily/weekly operational and financial reports.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Act as the on-site decision-maker for day-to-day issues, only escalating necessary items, and presenting potential solutions to owners.
  • Virtual Collaboration: Attend and actively participate in remote meetings (video or phone calls) to align on strategy, marketing efforts, and long-term planning.
  • Autonomy: Execute approved business strategies with minimal on-site supervision, demonstrating integrity and accountability.

3. Administrative and Financial Duties

  • Booking Management: Utilize booking software (e.g., res.bs) to track all reservations, manage capacity, and handle scheduling changes.
  • Financial Tracking: Maintain accurate and detailed records of daily expenses, revenue, and payroll using accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Inventory & Purchasing: Oversee the inventory of supplies, merchandise, and game materials, submitting purchase requests as needed.

4. Customer Service and Brand Experience

  • Service Excellence: Prioritize outstanding customer service to maintain high guest satisfaction, manage customer feedback, and resolve any issues promptly and professionally.
  • Historical Immersion: Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of local Bahamian and pirate history to enhance the authenticity of the experience.
  • Sales & Promotions: Promote and sell any company merchandise or other services.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role (retail, tourism, hospitality, or entertainment preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage daily operations without constant direct supervision.
  • Passion for gaming, storytelling, and performance with a natural ability to captivate an audience.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with business software, including Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and the ability to quickly learn platforms like QuickBooks and rezbs.com
  • Experience participating or working in Escape Rooms preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a natural ability to engage diverse groups of people.
  • Comfortable acting or performing, with a willingness to develop and maintain an engaging pirate character.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in The Bahamas.
